Wisconsin Football Transfer Portal: Safety Preston Zachman Departs
Key Players Leaving Wisconsin Football Team
The Wisconsin football team is undergoing significant changes as they prepare for the upcoming season. With two consecutive losing seasons, the Badgers are looking to revamp their roster through the transfer portal. Several players have announced their intentions to leave the program in search of more playing time or a fresh start.
Safety Preston Zachman
Preston Zachman, a graduate student and safety, has decided to enter the transfer portal. He missed the final nine games of the 2025 season due to a leg injury but still managed to finish with 12 tackles, nine solos, and two interceptions. Zachman started 20 games for UW and played 35 overall.
Quarterback Billy Edwards
Billy Edwards, a veteran quarterback, plans to enter the transfer portal after suffering a grade 3 PCL strain to his left knee during the season opener against Miami (Ohio). He is expected to recover well before spring practice and may receive a medical redshirt.
Tight End Tucker Ashcraft
Tucker Ashcraft, a tight end, suffered a left leg injury late in fall camp that limited him to four games this season. Before the injury, he was the Badgers’ co-No. 1 tight end with Lance Mason. Ashcraft has two years of eligibility remaining.
Running Back Dilin Jones
Dilin Jones, a redshirt freshman running back, started the first seven games but missed the final five due to a turf toe injury. He finished second on the team with 300 rushing yards and averaged 3.9 yards per carry.
Receiver Eugene Hilton Jr.
Eugene Hilton Jr., the son of former NFL Pro Bowl receiver TY Hilton, played in every game this season and ranked fifth among receivers in snaps played. He caught eight passes for 91 yards and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Defensive Back Geimere Latimer
Geimere Latimer, a junior defensive back, plans to enter the transfer portal after being the Badgers' top nickel corner. He played in every game this season and finished with 28 tackles, 17 solos, and one forced fumble.

Other Players Leaving the Program
Several other players have also announced their decisions to transfer from the Wisconsin football team.
Linebacker Antarron Turner
Antarron Turner signed with UW as a transfer from Western Carolina last December but did not appear in any games this season. He announced his decision to transfer on Dec. 15 and has one season of eligibility remaining.
Linebacker Christian Alliegro
Christian Alliegro finished third on the team with 53 tackles and second in tackles for a loss. He has one season of eligibility remaining and was part of a four-man rotation at linebacker.
Center Jake Renfro
Jake Renfro, a sixth-year senior, played well when he was on the field but his season was limited to four games due to leg/ankle injuries. He announced his plans to enter the portal and seek a medical redshirt.
Outside Linebacker Angel Toombs
Angel Toombs, a Milwaukee King grad, walked on to the program in 2023 but didn’t appear in any games. He has three years of eligibility remaining and announced his departure on Dec. 11.
Receiver Trech Kekahuna
Trech Kekahuna’s agent confirmed that the redshirt sophomore intends to transfer. His big-play potential was never consistently unlocked by the Badgers.
Additional Players Exiting the Program
More players have decided to leave the Wisconsin football team as they seek new opportunities.
Linebacker Tackett Curtis
Tackett Curtis started the first seven games this season but saw little playing time on defense after the emergence of freshmen Mason Posa and Cooper Catalano. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Receiver Joseph Griffin
Joseph Griffin, a 6-4, 210-pound receiver, caught one pass for 5 yards this season. He has one year of eligibility remaining and showed potential during spring practice and fall camp.
Running Back Cade Yacamelli
Cade Yacamelli, who had a career-high 38 carries this season, finished fifth on the team with 128 rushing yards. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Punter Atticus Bertrams

Moss, a safety, redshirted this season and has four years of eligibility remaining.
