The 31st Annual Critics Choice Awards
The 31st annual Critics Choice Awards, the first major competitive awards show of 2026, is set to take place on Sunday, January 4. Chelsea Handler will return as the host for the ceremony, which will be held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The three-hour event will air live on E! and USA Network, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
Who’s Leading the Critics Choice Nominations?
This year’s nominations are led by Sinners, a genre thriller from Warner Bros. directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan. The film has received a leading 17 nominations, including categories such as Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. Just behind is another Warner Bros. film, One Battle After Another by Paul Thomas Anderson, which has 14 nominations.
Additional nominees for Best Picture this year include:

On the television side, Netflix’s Emmy-winning series Adolescence leads with six nominations, while Nobody Wants This follows with five.
New Categories Introduced This Year
This year’s show will feature four new categories: Best Variety Series, Best Stunt Design, Best Casting and Ensemble, and Best Sound. Notably, the category of Best Casting becomes an official Oscar category starting this year, with Best Stunts set to follow in 2027.
Red Carpet Coverage
The red carpet for the Critics Choice Awards will be televised. The special LIVE from E!: Critics Choice Awards will air live beginning at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT across E! and USA Network. Justin Sylvester and Keltie Knight will host the event alongside Will Marfuggi and Erin Lim.
