Victim Named in New Year's Day Shooting in North Austin

A tragic incident occurred early on New Year's Day in North Austin, resulting in the death of a young man. The Austin Police Department (APD) received reports around 1:30 a.m. on January 1, concerning an incident at a business complex located along West Anderson Lane, near North Lamar Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered an injured young adult male who was later identified as 18-year-old Isaiah Atkinson. He had been attending a New Year's Eve party at an event center within the business complex. During the celebration, a disturbance took place, and Atkinson was shot in the chest.
