Combat Engagements and Frontline Developments

As of 10:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, a total of 104 combat engagements have occurred along the front line. Nearly a quarter of these were recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully repelled 24 enemy assaults, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since the start of the day, Russian forces have carried out one missile strike using two missiles, conducted 42 airstrikes involving 113 guided aerial bombs, launched 2,919 kamikaze drone attacks, and executed 2,588 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions.

Frontline Situation by Direction

Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk Directions

In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russia carried out two airstrikes using two guided aerial bombs and shelled Ukrainian defensive positions and settlements 63 times.

Southern-Slobozhanskyi Directions

In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi directions, Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks near the settlements of Vovchansk, Hrabovske, Starytsia, Prylipka, and toward Izbytske. Two engagements are still ongoing.

Kupiansk Direction

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attacked twice near Petropavlivka and toward Kurylivka. One engagement remains ongoing.

Lyman Direction

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched six attacks near the settlements of Drobysheve, Lyman, Zarichne, Torske, and Yampil. Two engagements are still underway.

Sloviansk Direction

In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five Russian attacks near Siversk, Zakitne, and Pereizne. Two engagements are ongoing.

Kramatorsk Direction

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful attack near Minkivka.

Kostiantynivka Direction

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces conducted 14 assaults near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byk, Mykolaipillia, and Sofiivka.

Pokrovsk Direction

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy launched 24 assaults near the settlements of Nove Shakhove, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Molodetske, Udachne, Filiia, Dachne, and toward Novopavlivka. Fighting is ongoing at two locations.

Over the past day in this direction, Ukraine’s Defense Forces neutralized 37 Russian troops, including 18 killed. Ukrainian forces destroyed five motorcycles, two ammunition depots, five vehicles, one unmanned ground vehicle, 18 drones, and one personnel shelter. In addition, one tank, one piece of specialized equipment, and 10 personnel shelters were hit.

Oleksandrivka Direction

In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped eight enemy attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Oleksandrohrad, Vyshneve, Zlahoda, and Rybne. Two engagements are still ongoing.

Huliaipole Direction

In the Huliaipole direction, 20 combat engagements were recorded near Huliaipole and toward Dobropillia and Zelene. Russian aircraft carried out airstrikes on Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Rizdvianka, Dolynka, Verkhnia Tersa, and Huliaipole.

Orikhiv Direction

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy launched two attacks near Plavni and Prymorske. Russian forces also carried out an airstrike on Novoandriivka.

Prydniprovskyi Direction

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks. Russian aircraft struck Mykolaivka.

Russia’s Military Losses

According to the General Staff, Russia has lost approximately 1,209,880 military personnel since the start of its full-scale invasion. Russian losses over the past day alone amounted to 910 troops.
