Vincent Martin, the Parks Division Manager, highlighted the importance of ongoing maintenance and improvements. “Each year, we allocate funds in our budget to enhance our boardwalks and facilities throughout the county. This project is one of those efforts, focusing on redoing the boardwalk at Rick Seltzer Park,” Martin explained.

The upgrades include replacing materials with more durable options that can withstand the harsh effects of saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico. “The environment here takes a toll on facilities, especially those located near the water. We’re using better quality lumber and making sure everything is safer for everyone who uses the park,” he added.

Improving Access and Facilities

Martin emphasized that these improvements are not just about aesthetics but also about accessibility. “We have to continue to maintain our facilities, and the county does a great job with that. Our goal is to assess what needs to be done, what can be upgraded, and how we can improve access to this beautiful beach area,” he said.
