The event was founded 39 years ago by Bob Magarian to create a space built on acceptance and togetherness.

"We hope that they have a wonderful Christmas and that they're not alone because our motto is 'no one should eat alone,' and we love them to be with us and to be with other people," Magarian said.

Year after year, that mission continued, renewing spirits and reminding the community what the holiday season is really about.

Dozens of volunteers worked nonstop to make sure everyone felt at home. These volunteers chose to spend Christmas Day helping those in need and giving back to their community. "Spreading that Christmas love is ultimately the goal, and we just want to make people feel special, especially those who don't have family," Kenadee Starr, a volunteer at the event, said.

Starr's family joined her in serving meals with her sister, flying in from Florida to help spread holiday cheer. "My nana and this year my aunt came with her kid and wife, and my uncle, and my sister," Starr said. "She lives in Florida, so she traveled all the way to do this, so we love it."

Volunteers like Starr are essential to the success of the event. Their efforts ensure that every guest feels welcomed and valued. The dinner ran until 2 this afternoon, and organizers said every single person who walked through the door was considered family.
