Will Smith Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Will Smith, an Academy Award-winning actor, is currently facing a lawsuit from Brian King Joseph, a tour violinist, who has accused him of sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation. The case was filed on December 31, with Joseph claiming that Smith engaged in "predatory behavior" and "grooming" during their working relationship after meeting in late 2024.

According to court documents cited by outlets like Variety and NBC News, Joseph was hired to perform for a tour supporting Smith’s then-upcoming album "Based on a True Story." He alleges that Smith began spending more time with him alone and claimed that Smith felt a "special connection" between them.

Joseph claims that he later traveled to Las Vegas to perform at one of the concerts. However, he alleges that the tour managers lost his bag and room key. When he eventually accessed his room, Joseph says he found a beer bottle, HIV medication with someone else's name on the prescription, and a note from someone identified as "Stone F," indicating that this person would return to the room at 5:30 p.m. that day.

Joseph reported this incident to the hotel, the police, and the tour management, but he was accused by the latter of fabricating the whole thing, according to reports. He further claims that he was subsequently dropped from the tour and replaced as a retaliatory move.

Before the lawsuit was filed, Joseph appeared to hint at the alleged incident in an Instagram video. In the video, he said, "Earlier this year, I was hired to be a performer on a major, major tour, with somebody who is huge in the industry. Unfortunately, some things happened, and I can’t get into the details of exactly what that was, because it’s already a legal issue right now. But the reason why I’m speaking out about this is because getting fired, or getting blamed or shamed or threatened or anything like that, simply for reporting sexual misconduct or safety threats at work, is not OK."

Response from Will Smith’s Legal Team

An attorney for Smith, Allen B. Grodsky, has called the accusations against his client "baseless, false, and reckless." In a statement shared with multiple outlets, Grodsky said, "Mr. Joseph’s allegations concerning my client are false, baseless, and reckless. They are categorically denied, and we will use all legal means available to address these claims and to ensure that the truth is brought to light."

Despite the strong denial from Smith's legal team, the lawsuit remains active, and the situation is being closely watched by the public and media. A representative for Smith's lawyer was not immediately available for further comment.
