Katie Price Makes a Comeback in The Princess Diaries

Katie Price, the former glamour model and mother of Princess Andre, has reportedly been involved in filming scenes for the second series of her daughter’s reality show, The Princess Diaries. This marks a significant shift from the first season, which aired on ITV last year and focused on Princess as she began building her public career. During that time, Katie was notably absent, with reports suggesting that her involvement was restricted at the request of Princess' management team.

However, it seems that the situation has changed. A source revealed to The Sun that Katie has been filming scenes for the new series, though her participation is not full-time. Instead, she will appear in video calls with her daughter, such as FaceTime sessions, ensuring her presence remains visible to viewers.

This development represents a clear reversal from the previous year, where Katie was effectively excluded from the show. The source added that both Princess and Katie wanted her to be part of the series, highlighting the importance of their relationship.

A Major Shift in Family Dynamics

The first season of The Princess Diaries showcased Princess at home with her family, including her father Peter Andre and stepmother Emily MacDonagh. However, Katie's only appearance was through a voice recording. Despite this, the show proved so popular that it was confirmed to have picked up two additional seasons.

It is now believed that Peter and Emily have decided to step back from the upcoming season, following backlash over Katie's absence. According to insiders, this decision came after discussions with Peter, who agreed to withdraw alongside Emily to reduce the 'noise' surrounding the controversy.

Katie's Emotional Response

When the first series was released in August last year, Katie expressed her frustration over being excluded from Princess’ first-ever reality show. She vented her anger during an outburst on her podcast, responding to claims that her well-documented personal struggles—such as drug and alcohol addiction, drink-driving arrests, and multiple bankruptcies—were damaging her daughter's image.

Katie stated: "I want the best for Junior and Princess, and I would never get in the way of it. But what hurt my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you're involved in everything they do."

She emphasized that she supports her daughter’s path, even if it mirrors her own. "And knowing that, what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I've done, which I absolutely love and adore Princess."

Katie also shared her disappointment at being excluded from key events, stating, "I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I'm not allowed and I'm not welcome."

What’s Next for the New Series?

The new series of The Princess Diaries is expected to follow Princess as she explores new business ventures and continues to build her public profile. At home, she has a 'big beauty gig' lined up in Liverpool, further expanding her influence in the entertainment industry.

With Katie's return, the dynamic between the family members may continue to evolve, raising questions about how this change will affect the show and the relationships within it. As fans eagerly await the next season, the story of Princess Andre and her family remains as compelling as ever.
