The annual "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest" made a powerful entrance into 2026, setting a four-year high with 30 million viewers at midnight. The ABC special, which featured the legendary Diana Ross as a headliner, reached a total of 34 million viewers throughout the night, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures.
This year’s event was not only the top entertainment broadcast special of the night but also marked a significant increase in viewership compared to previous years. The show’s peak audience of 30 million at midnight surpassed last year’s numbers, which averaged 18 million total viewers and peaked at 21.5 million at midnight. In 2024, the show had 22.2 million viewers at midnight, making this year’s performance a notable achievement.
Expanded Programming and Increased Reach
One of the most notable changes for this year’s telecast was its extended length. The show was expanded by an additional hour and a half, marking the longest lineup of performances in the event’s history. This added time allowed for more musical acts and special segments, enhancing the overall experience for viewers.
In addition to the television broadcast, iHeart Media’s live audio nationwide broadcast reached 2 million listeners across nearly 150 iHeartRadio stations. This represents a 9% increase from the previous year, highlighting the growing popularity of the event through radio platforms.
A Star-Studded Lineup
Diana Ross was just one of many big names that graced the stage during the celebration. Other performers included Ciara, LE SSERAFIM, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Mariah Carey, AJR, The All-American Rejects, New Kids on the Block, Pitbull, Lil Jon, Filmore, 4 Non Blondes, 50 Cent, BigXthaPlug, Charlie Puth, Chappell Roan, Daddy Yankee, Demi Lovato, DJ Cassidy, Busta Rhymes, T.I., Wyclef Jean, and KPop Demon Hunter stars EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI. Additional artists such as Jess Glynne, Jessie Murph, 6lack, Jordan Davis, Leon Thomas, Madison Beer, OneRepublic, Post Malone, Rick Springfield, Russell Dickerson, Tucker Wetmore, and Zara Larsson also performed.
Special guests included the Savannah Bananas, the Party Animals, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, among others. These appearances added a unique and entertaining element to the show, appealing to a wide range of audiences.
Hosts and Production Team
Ryan Seacrest was joined by Rita Ora, who continued her role as a co-host. For the first time, Chance the Rapper joined as a co-host, leading the special’s first-ever live central time zone countdown from Chicago. Julianne Hough made her co-hosting debut alongside Rob Gronkowski in Las Vegas, bringing a fresh dynamic to the event.
