Car Crashes Into Appliance Store on Milwaukee's Northwest Side

A Car Crash at an Appliance Store in Milwaukee
On a Friday afternoon, a car crashed into an appliance store located near Fond du Lac Avenue and Capitol Drive. The incident occurred when a Toyota vehicle smashed through the front window and into the store, causing significant damage. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident.
One woman, aged 33, was receiving treatment at a local hospital for minor injuries, according to an employee of the store. The driver of the car, Malcolm Wright, shared his account of the event with WISN 12 News. He stated that another vehicle ran a red light on Fond du Lac Avenue, prompting him to attempt to swerve and avoid a collision. However, he ended up hitting the building instead.
Wright expressed his frustration about the frequent reckless driving near the intersection of Fond du Lac and Capitol Drive. He admitted that while he had witnessed such behavior before, he never anticipated becoming a victim himself.
Juan Rodriguez, an employee at the appliance store, also voiced his concerns about the recurring incidents. He mentioned that people often ignore traffic lights and speed through red signals, leading to dangerous situations. Rodriguez noted that this was the third time in three years that a vehicle had crashed into the building. He explained that the store has attempted to reach out to the city to explore potential solutions, such as adding protective measures to prevent future accidents.
Reflecting on the crash, Wright said, "I never imagined myself in this building. I see cars in here numerous times, and I wouldn't even open a business right here."
Fond du Lac Avenue and Capitol Drive are recognized as some of the most dangerous roads in Milwaukee County. A 12 News investigation conducted last November revealed that Capitol Drive ranked third worst, with 84 serious or deadly crashes over four years. Fond du Lac Avenue came in second place, with 91 crashes recorded during the same period.
At the scene of the accident, an officer confirmed that no arrests had been made.
