A Christmas Miracle on Glen Echo Boulevard

In a heartwarming event that unfolded early on Thursday morning, the Stoughton Police Department witnessed what they are calling a “Christmas Miracle” along Glen Echo Boulevard and Pleasant Street. The incident began when first responders were called to the scene after a woman went into active labor in the back seat of a vehicle.

Sergeant Medeiros was the first to arrive at the location, followed shortly by Officer Guzman. The two officers quickly assessed the situation and took immediate action to ensure the safety of both the mother and her unborn child. Officer Guzman remained calm and guided the woman through the process, while Sergeant Medeiros provided critical assistance in delivering the baby.

The officers worked together seamlessly, with Sergeant Medeiros clearing the newborn’s mouth and nose, placing him on his mother’s belly, and gently rubbing his back to help him take his first breath. Just five minutes after their arrival at 6:17 a.m., the baby boy was safely born.

The mother and her newborn son were then transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center-South in Brockton, where they are currently receiving care and are reported to be doing well.

Residents living near the area were initially alarmed by the sight of police and fire engine lights illuminating the streets. Many thought there had been a crash or some other emergency. However, they were soon relieved to learn that the commotion was due to the birth of a baby.

“I’m glad that it happened and on Christmas,” said James Fallon, a local resident. “It was good to have something good happen in the neighborhood.”

Judy Rodrigues also expressed her relief and joy. “I was very relieved to be honest,” she said. “I’m very glad everything went well. Happy healthy baby and good luck in the future!”

Stoughton Police highlighted the significance of the event in a statement, emphasizing the dedication and compassion of their officers. “This incredible event is a reminder that our officers are called upon to handle every kind of emergency—sometimes even helping deliver new life into the world,” the statement read.

The department expressed pride in the actions of Sergeant Medeiros and Officer Guzman, praising their quick thinking, teamwork, and compassion during this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence. They extended their congratulations to the new mother and her family, welcoming the newborn to the world.
